About Credit Ratings

Credit Ratings is London based credit information service that works with market leading credit data providers. We can enable you to see your own credit rating report, and as well as our consumer services we are also able to supply corporate credit risk reports in the United Kingdom, and through our international overseas network of agents worldwide.

Credit Ratings partners with credit information providers and consumer credit data services. We offer a link to services that can provide either corporate or consumer credit reports. For people who wish to check their own credit files, Credit Ratings works with a UK credit reference agency service that can assist with this.

Our staff are helpful and have vast experience within the credit industry, and understand the nature of both company and consumer credit referencing. The most common question we tended to receive over the years was from individuals asking for a credit status enquiry on themselves. In the past such an enquiry would require a credit search to be carried out, and this would leave a 'footprint' on the individuals credit file.

For quick access to information on the credit worthiness of UK companies we can provide access to detailed credit information and risk assessment. Our business credit reports include risk ratings and credit limit guidelines.

We offer access to other business support services and for customers who require information in other countries we have an international credit report service.

Our business activities include:

  • Credit Ratings
Service for consumers wishing to find out what is on their credit report
  • Business Credit Ratings
Service for corporate credit risk assessment and business to business credit control

In the past credit reference agencies would provide your credit file only following a written application. Now you have the option to view your credit report online.

  • Reveal what building societies, banks, and high street lenders can see about you
  • Keep an eye on your credit rating and act promptly if you see activity that suggests identity theft

What information is used to assess credit ratings?
There are three primary sources of information used for credit scores. Firstly the data you supply on the actual loan or credit application form; details about your salary, the type and nature of your employment, family and financial commitments, why you want the loan, and whether you are a home owner or renting. Your track record with the company you are applying to will be a factor if you have borrowed from them before. The credit information held about you on credit reference agency files is another factor. All major lenders use at least one major agency when assessing your credit record. The credit agency data comes from the Electoral roll (showing addresses and who lives with whom, County Court records which show County Court Judgements (CCJs), and Bankruptcies indicate if you have a history of financial problems. The banks, building societies and other lenders also compile details of all your payments and borrowings and share this data with credit reference agencies. The major lenders often share the information they have, subject to customer consent, so that each now has access to all data about you from other organisations. This shared information is sometimes known by the acronym CAIS which stands for Credit Account Information Sharing. Credit reference agencies provide credit information and credit score guidelines, but consumers do not have just one single credit rating. Each lender uses the information available to set their own credit limit and terms. When you get a report on yourself using the service offered through My Credit Rating you will see an actual credit report from your credit reference agency file.
